چکیده

Abstract This paper introduces and studies a class of evolutionary dynamics—pairwise interact-and-imitate dynamics (PIID)—in which agents are matched in pairs, engage symmetric game, imitate the opponent with probability that depends on difference their payoffs. We provide condition underlying named supremacy, show population state all play supreme strategy is globally asymptotically stable. extend framework to allow for payoff uncertainty, check robustness our results introduction some heterogeneity revision protocol followed by agents. Finally, we PIID can survival strictly dominated strategies, leads emergence inefficient conventions social dilemmas, makes assortment ineffective promoting cooperation.

Imitate or Differentiate ?

Although there is $2 trillion in portfolios using socially responsible investing (SRI) criteria, it remains unclear how to measure “social responsibility.” We explore competing theoretical perspectives that explain the level of convergent and predictive validity across SRI ratings produced by competing social raters. While some prior literature predicts low convergent validity due to desire for...

Pairwise Comparison Dynamics and Evolutionary Foundations for Nash Equilibrium

We introduce a class of evolutionary game dynamics — pairwise comparison dynamics — under which revising agents choose a candidate strategy at random, switching to it with positive probability if and only if its payoff is higher than the agent’s current strategy. We prove that all such dynamics satisfy Nash stationarity: the set of rest points of these dynamics is always identical to the set of...

Pairwise comparison and selection temperature in evolutionary game dynamics.

Recently, the frequency-dependent Moran process has been introduced in order to describe evolutionary game dynamics in finite populations. Here, an alternative to this process is investigated that is based on pairwise comparison between two individuals. We follow a long tradition in the physics community and introduce a temperature (of selection) to account for stochastic effects. We calculate ...

Getting Humanoids to Move and Imitate

AS ROBOTS INCREASINGLY BEcome part of our everyday lives, they will serve as caretakers for the elderly and disabled, assistants in surgery and rehabilitation, and educational toys. But for this to happen, programming and control must become simpler and human–robot interaction more natural. Both challenges are particularly relevant to humanoid robots, which are highly difficult to control yet m...

When and How to Imitate Your Neighbours

This paper summarises some previously published work on imitation, experimentation (or innovation) and aspiration thresholds using the FEARLUS modelling system and reports new work with FEARLUS extending these studies. Results are discussed in the context of existing literature on imitation and innovation in related contexts. A form of imitation in which land uses are selected on the criterion ...
